It is up to you how much you want to learn about starting hands. Online Poker Tip(s): Keep this in mind concerning starting hands – it is easy to play a round of poker when you have good cards and good position on the Texas Hold’em table, but this “is” the easy part.

Knowing when to not call a bet or when to throw (fold) your cards in is the hard part and this is especially true if you have already placed money into the pot. Some players have a hard time letting a hand go, once they are invested in it. However, it is best to get out before you lose any more and not “chase” your hand, but this takes willpower to actually do while you are playing Texas Hold’em online.

Texas Holdem Trivia: Did you know there are actually 1,326 different potential combinations of starting hands in a Texas Hold’em game using a 52-deck? However, this is calculated using the four different suits (spades, diamonds, hearts and clubs) separately that are considered of equal value in a game of Texas Hold’em poker. Since this is the case, then there are only essentially 169 different potential combinations of starting hands in a Texas Holdem poker game. It breaks down to 78 potential suited non-pairs, 78 potential unsuited non-pairs plus 13 possible pairs. Go ahead - get a deck of cards and see for yourself how many starting hands are possible.
